Dioraphte’s Nature Conservation section supports organisations which are seeking to realise high-quality projects in the field of nature and biodiversity conservation, both in the Netherlands and in Africa.
For instance, within the Netherlands, Dioraphte supports De Hoge Veluwe National Park, since this privately-owned park is important to the country and makes a significant contribution to nature and biodiversity conservation, nature education and recreation.

Grants Policy

Generally, we support projects through monetary donations.

Dioraphte’s Nature Conservation section prefers to focus on projects and activities which are, or could become, of great importance to a large number of people from many social strata. Projects supported by Dioraphte may run for several years.

Guidelines and criteria

The Dioraphte Foundation (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Fund’) essentially applies the following general guidelines and criteria:

  • The Fund provides financial support to organisations whose aim is to serve the public in the Netherlands and abroad.
  • The Fund’s support is mainly designed to enable, where possible, clearly defined projects. Generally speaking, we do not support projects which have been partially or completely realised by the time of the grant application. We prefer projects that serve a large segment of society.
  • The Fund sometimes supports projects with a multi-year term (generally 2 to 4 years), but this support is never permanent. Our grants may be used to cover operational deficits, wages which are not related to the project at hand, people’s livelihoods and costs associated with the day-to-day business of running an organisation.
  • Since you are essentially asking the Fund for a financial contribution, please ensure that your application comes with clear and well-presented financial data. We recommend that you enclose (where applicable) an investment budget, an operating budget and a financing scheme.
  • The Fund mainly awards grants to Dutch projects. Financial support for projects to be undertaken outside the Netherlands is generally only provided to applicants having their offices in the Netherlands.
  • We also indirectly support organisations through co-operation with various third parties (including other charitable funds).
  • Generally, we do not consider applications for financial support to be provided to a single individual.
  • Generally, we do not financially support governments, government bodies or organisations which are heavily subsidised by the government. Nor do we support commercial organisations.
  • We do not financially support any activities or projects with very explicit or strong political or religious overtones.
  • When submitting their applications, applicants are required to demonstrate that they do not possess the means (or sufficient means) to fund the project themselves. If it transpires at a later date that the applicant does possess or used to possess capital or funds in his own or in another party’s name, or that he possesses or used to possess other means or earnings which were not disclosed in writing at the time of the application or afterwards, the Fund may withdraw its offer of a grant and request restitution of any monies already paid.

In any and all cases, the Dioraphte Foundation’s Board decision – be it favourable or unfavourable – shall be final. Furthermore, the Board shall not be bound to justify its decision. There is no appeal possible.

The guidelines outlined above may be subject to revision without prior consultation.

Terms and Conditions of Grand Awards Preliminary Application

First submit a Preliminary Application

Please complete a preliminary application first, then please wait for us to respond.

Depending on the planned board meetings this can take a few days to a few weeks.

Once you have received a favourable response, please submit a complete application by email (see below under How to submit a Complete Application).

We will not respond to preliminary applications submitted by regular e-mail, so not via the link above, or via regular mail ('on paper').

A Complete Application will only be taken in to consideration after a favourable response by our advisor based on your preliminary application.

How to submit a Complete Application

Please combine all your materials into one single PDF file, whose name contains the name of your organisation, the name of your project and the date of dispatch (abbreviated if necessary), and send it to postbus@dioraphte.nl. If any additional information is required (see below), please send it to us in a separate PDF file.

Please send items which cannot be sent by email (e.g. books or large-sized materials for publication) to the Foundation’s postal address (see ‘contact & how to get here’) AFTER CONSULTING US.

Once we have received your complete application, you will receive an email within ten days, confirming the receipt of your application. This confirmation email will also contain the date on which your application will be discussed by the Board. If you do not receive such a confirmation email, we may not have received your application. If this happens, you may want to contact us. Additional information required as part of the complete application:

The following information can be forwarded in a separate file or in separate files (preferably in PDF);

  • A copy of a recent Chamber of Commerce certificate, no older than 1 year.
  • Photocopies of your organisation’s articles of association or bylaws.
  • A copy of your organisation’s ANBI (charitable fund) certificate or Inland Revenue Service’s confirmation of your organisation’s charitable fund status, where applicable.
  • Your organisation’s most recent annual report, along with a statement provided by your accountant, drawn up in accordance with the Guideline Governing Fund-Raising Organisations. Alternatively, you may submit an accountant’s audit report or historical financial data compilation, but we would rather receive an annual report.
  • A copy of a CBF-issued statement confirming that there are no known objections to your organisation, or a copy of a CBF-issued quality mark (only for organisations which (also) collect money from the public nation-wide).
  • A list or chart of all charitable funds to whom you have applied for financial support for your project, as well as the outcomes of those applications (financing scheme). Please ensure that your list is up to date and dated.
  • Your organisation’s complete annual budget for the current fiscal year.
  • If you are using the services of a fund raiser or fund-raising agency (which you may or may not have hired temporarily), we would like to learn the estimated costs of this fund-raising with regard to your application.

You will receive written notice of the Board’s decision, along with a copy of the terms and conditions of grant awards where applicable, within ten days of the Board’s meeting.

If your application is held over, you will have to discuss your application with Michaela van Wassenaer, who is also the person to contact if you wish to receive more information as to why your application was rejected. Michaela can be contacted as follows: (www.cultureconsult.net - michaelaculture@gmail.com - +31 6 3470 9932).
