‘Audiences will be introduced to the ideas and practices of this new generation of musicians and makers. The aim of the Windows of Opportunity project is to empower their voice and to accelerate their productivity and their growth, particularly at this time.’

The Akoesticum Foundation is the producer of the Windows of Opportunity project. It began as a ‘workshop during corona time’, initiated by Akoesticum and the Eigen Muziekinstrument foundation. Following a successful pilot in 2020, this workshop will continue as a place to support and challenge musicians and ensembles in their first years after vocational training.
Artistic leader Idske Bakker: ‘In Windows of Opportunity, young professional musicians up to the age of thirty will create new music productions. The performances will be inspired, shaped and nurtured by the fast-changing field of the performing arts. During the presentations of these new shows, audiences will be introduced to the ideas and practices of this new generation of musicians and makers. The aim of the Windows of Opportunity project is to empower their voice and to accelerate their productivity and their growth, particularly at this time.’
In total, twenty-five musicians will be offered a place to work; between them, they will develop ten new productions. These will mature in 2021 and 2022 through an intensive residency programme. During this residency, the artistic management and several coaches will support these young musicians in the further development and promotion of their production, as well as their entrepreneurship and the expansion of their professional networks.
